Getting to know me

I’m Minnesota born and raised. I love my state. I don’t plan on ever moving, but life is unpredictable. I love sports—especially the Timberwolves, Vikings, and Notre Dame football. I also am a “cat guy.” There are not many of us. 🙂

In addition to a math degree, I also have a Masters degree in theology, which is essentially the study of God. I like to read, work out, and watch a limited amount of T.V. I don’t just like my job, I absolutely love it. Your success is my joy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Typically I work with students on their homework assignments. If they have a quiz or test approaching, obviously we’ll study that material exclusively. If I see gaps in their understanding of foundational concepts, I work with the student to fill those in.

I have taught part-time and have also substituted in schools. However, I have found more fulfillment and enjoyment in a one-on-one setting.

I don’t. Math is my “specialty,” and there are other educators more experienced and effective in teaching the other subjects. For this reason, I also no longer offer services for ACT or SAT prep.

My greatest weakness, as I see it, is that I am not always as firm and demanding with the student when needed. Based on feedback over the years, I can confidently say that my number one strength is my relational skills. Numerous parents have voluntarily told me that I also was like a mentor to their child.

That’s a tough question to answer, but yes, only if absolutely needed. I want to accommodate whoever contacts me, and I do my best. At the same time, this is my primary source of income.
